Page Info
These are general comments about each of the pages that provide some insight to the design intent, known issues, and areas where I can use some assistance.
- Navigation. While you can easily navigate almost any resource on the site, it doesn’t feel fluent. Attempted to keep the top-level menu items the same as current, but don’t feel that’s the best solution.
- Sundays. The original intent was to build out this page for a person who wants to attend FRDM for the first time and I feel we’ve convoluted that message? How should we focus on this page?
- How To Receive Jesus. Have we provided sufficient (or too much) information on how the person can accept Jesus? Photos to include? Are next steps clear?
- I Have Decided. What outreach content do we provide for the new convert? Can these materials be provided electronically? Are the “next steps” we lead the person the right ones – should we provide both Baptism & Connect? How do we address next steps for the “Remote Persona”? Encourage them to contact a church? Can we help them in this regard?
- Baptism. Have we covered all the bases? Info about the mechanics of the baptism experience at FRDM? What “next steps” should we lead the person into? The Baptism Archive page is provided – it’s a collection of info that I considered for inclusion. Please identify what parts, if any, should be included.
- Connect. Is the information current & correct? What can we do to enhance this event encouraging a person to attend? Where does this fit in “next steps”?
- Prayer. The approach is to provide a solution in addition to the email channel. How do we acknowledge the submission of a prayer request? A prayer wall showing all active prayer requests is planned for a future release.
- Sermon Library. This page has all the YouTube videos in our library. Could use some help with the introductory content here. The intent was to make available a comprehensive library for additional study, group discussion, and SEO optimization. Each video can be played from this page. You can link to the underlying post by clicking on the title. Working on an enhanced layout for each sermon page that will contain a summary of the sermon provided. This feature will be available for review in the next design review.
- Events. All matters pertaining to event announcements. Layout, content, ticketing/RSVP and photos are important points for review.
- Youth Ministries. Includes Kids, Students and Young Adults. Specific content elements reflect what we do with each demographic.
- Teams. Recommend each Team Lead provide content like the Production and/or Web Teams. What important points should we include? Commitment info could be more detailed. This implementation allows a person to apply to a team without going through Church Center. Email is sent to the Team Leader. Multiple email addresses (i.e., teams@frdmchurch.com, tmcain@frdmchurch.com, david.keevis@outlook.com) can be accommodated.
- Small Groups. Have been cutting info from Church Center. Some groups could use some help in framing out their content and a guideline would be helpful for them. A lot of categories were previously used in Church Center that have been abandoned. This implementation allows a person to apply to a group without going through Church Center. Email is sent to the Group Leader. As with teams, multiple email addresses can be accommodated.
- Outreach. This page needs a ton of work. Each of the missions listed have significantly different logo sizes/shapes, so they can’t be reasonably used here. The objective was to list the following about the missions we support:
- Identifying Information
- What they do
- How to find out more about them (their website)
- How to contact them if a person wants to reach out in support or in need of assistance.
- About. This can be a very valuable page. The most common page visited is the home page for obvious reasons. The About page is the second most common page visited on all websites based on statistical information collected from over 100,000 sites. How can we reframe this page to really tell what FRDM is about?
- Beliefs This page is the most difficult in navigation – linked only from the About page. Where should we link this page from? Main menu? Sundays? Other pages?
- Giving. Currently, only a button on the top bar gets you to the Church Center giving page. Perhaps a dedicated page to giving/tithing is in order? There are alternatives to handle giving organically on the site, but they won’t likely be available for the initial release.
